Batch Zero maps 362 projects, not 362 green lights

ERCOT's new board material puts a project count behind Texas's large-load queue: 362 data-center, crypto and other large-load projects are conditionally classified in Batch Zero's base or studied categories.

TODAY'S SIGNAL

ERCOT's new board material puts a project count behind Texas's large-load queue: 362 data-center, crypto and other large-load projects are conditionally classified in Batch Zero's base or studied categories. The base category contains 204 projects totaling 66.4 GW; the studied category contains 158 projects.

For builders and owners, the scale is real but the permission is not. ERCOT says energization of new large-load data centers and crypto facilities is paused until eligibility verification and community-impact review are complete. Final inclusion or exclusion decisions are due in December, and the impact on the Batch Zero study timeline is still undetermined.

The geography makes the delivery question local. Dallas is the top base-load county at 5,713 MW and has 7,637 MW across base and studied categories. Those are conditional load totals—not construction starts, awards, contractor backlog or revenue. The useful near-term work is qualification, utility coordination and schedule protection before anyone counts the full queue as buildable demand.

The deck reports conflicting aggregate studied-load totals on different pages, so this edition does not repeat a studied-gigawatt number.
